Cookie policy

  1. What is stored

    Cookies are small text files that a website can place on your device. Websites can also use the browser’s local storage, which likewise stores data on the device but does not send it to the server with every request.

    This website uses both — in each case as sparingly as possible. Without your consent, only the necessary mechanisms listed below are used.

  2. Necessary storage

    These mechanisms are required to operate the website and are used without consent (§ 25(2) TDDDG).

    NEXT_LOCALE (cookie)
    Stores the language you selected so the site is delivered in that language. First-party cookie, SameSite=Lax, lifetime 12 months.
    novatis.consent (local storage)
    Stores your privacy decision: the consent model version, whether analytics was allowed, and the time of the decision. No identifier. Remains until you delete it or the consent model changes.

  3. Analytics — only with consent

    Only when you enable the Analytics category do we load Google Analytics 4. Google then sets its own cookies to recognise returning visits and attribute sessions.

    The provider is Google Ireland Limited. The purpose is audience measurement. Further details are in our privacy notice.

    Set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors. Set only after your consent.
    _ga_<property ID> (cookie)
    Set by Google Analytics to persist session state. Set only after your consent.

  4. Lifetime of the analytics cookies

    The lifetime of the cookies set by Google Analytics depends on the configuration of the Google Analytics property in use. We deliberately do not state a duration here that could differ from the actual configuration.

    You can delete cookies set by Google at any time through your browser settings.

  5. Changing your choice

    You can change your decision at any time. Open “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page.

    If you switch off the Analytics category, analytics consent is set to denied and Google Analytics is no longer loaded on the next page view. Clearing browser storage manually is not required.

    You can also block or delete cookies generally in your browser. The website remains usable; only your language choice and your privacy decision can then not be stored persistently.
